Chapter Fourteen is up!

I hope everyone's having a great weekend! The previous month has been a challenge for me as far as staying focused and have the creative energy to write. Early in February, our furry family member was diagnosed with glaucoma in her left eye. I've never had a pet develop glaucoma before, so it was quite a shock to learn about this horrible condition that affects some dogs. Unlike with humans, primary glaucoma in dogs and cats comes on very quickly and is extremely painful. Sight is usually lost within 30 hours if the eye pressure can't be lowered in time. As you can imagine, with that limited window, most pets lose their sight even before you can get them to a vet. There is no cure.

We are currently treating our dog with eye drops three times a day. Her left eye is, for all intensive purposes, blind now. She does appear to see bright lights and detect shadows, but will likely never regain her sight again in that eye. Drops are working to keep her pressure low in that eye, so we are hopefully to delay the removal of it for quite some time. We are also using drops in the "good" eye as a preventative measure. Glaucoma will spread to the other eye eventually, but hopefully the drops will delay that for as long as possible.

I love my furry baby. She is the first pup, the only pup, I have adopted since getting married, so going through this challenge has been very emotionally draining for me and the rest of the family. Combine that with the general unhappiness and conflict seen all over social media and the news (and fighting off some nasty colds!) and I have just been down-in-the-dumps for too long.

But the emotional storm has passed for now, and I have been able to wrap up Chapter Fifteen and continue progress into Chapter Sixteen. Also, I've finally purchased photos for all fifteen chapters, which was something I had been struggling with creatively. As fellow writers can attest to, finding a photographic representation of a chapter can be a daunting task, especially in this genre. Patrons will be receiving Chapter Fifteen very soon, so please keep an eye out for it.

Thank you for reading.
