About Shroud of Gossamer
Madeline was created in the early 90s, in stories going back to a creative writing group on the original Prodigy bulletin boards during the infancy of the internet. Her origin in Shroud of Gossamer is different from her Prodigy days, but her appearance, personality traits, and her strengths and weaknesses of character are very much the same.
On the other hand, Leviticus remains true to his original design but his whole story had never been told. He’s always come across full of mystery, so I am very excited to reveal the secrets of his past as Shroud of Gossamer unfolds.
The remaining characters are a mix of old and new for me. Some are those that I might not have written about so much in the past, but have a much bigger story to tell. Others are fresh faces that will grow along with the story.
I truly hope to be able to provide art along with Shroud of Gossamer that visually expresses my characters. The idea to share how I see them with readers is very important to me, so I look forward to being able to do that in the future. Once and a while, you might see some pictures of my Japanese ball-joint dolls, which were designed as visuals for Madeline and Levi, or some of my own personal renderings.
About the Author - Janis Sweek
My creative writing days started with AD&D. As a pre-teen, I loved making up adventures and characters for tabletop RPGs. In high school, I completed a 250 page fantasy story based off my tabletop characters, and in college I joined the writing group where most of the Shroud of Gossamer characters were born. Besides creative writing, I also enjoy watching anime, playing video and tabletop games, and listening to Japanese and Korean rock/pop music.
